Roof Pillar Flap, Removing
• To support roof, both sides of luggage compartment trim should be either removed or installed.
• The bypass screw on the hydraulic pump must be opened after the repair position has been reached on vehicle from May 2007. This prevents damaging the hydraulic system.
- Open the roof with the convertible top switch until it is just before the position shown.
- Place support VAS 6365 in upper position - 2 -.
- Place support VAS 6365 in mounting hole in main hinge - 1 -.
- Switch the ignition off. The roof lowers in stages until the supports are resting on the longitudinal members.
• Protect trim molding and paint from damage when removing roof pillar flap. Seals must not come in contact with adhesive tape when doing so.
• If the clip - 6 - for the cable - 4 - on the hinge is loose, it must always be replaced.
- Close roof pillar flap slightly by hand so that tension on cable - 4 - is released.
- Loosen cable clip - 3 - from roof pillar flap mechanics.
- Remove screws - 2 - and remove roof pillar flap from vehicle - arrows -.
• Always replace the clip - 1 - each time it is opened.
Removing the clip
- Allow rear lid with rear shelf to tip back until in a center position. The clip must be located in a hinge opening. Support rear lid.
- Cut through the cable ties - 2 -.
- Open the clip at the retaining hooks - arrow -.
- Disengage the release cable - 3 - at the bracket.
Always replace the clip - 1 -.
Installing the clip
Always install a new clip - 1 -.
- Engage the release cable - 3 - at the bracket.
- Lock the clip at the retaining hooks - arrow - completely.
- Secure a cable tie - 2 - around the clip.
- Make sure the cable tie has enough room when the roof moves.
