Crankshaft Gear/Sprocket: Service and Repair
Crankshaft Sensor Wheel, Installing
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Torque Wrench (5-50 Nm) (V.A.G 1331)
• Locking fluid (D 154 100 A1)
Make sure the crankshaft and sensor wheel contact surface are free of oil and grease.
• Sensor wheel may only be installed once, since attachment points - arrows - of countersunk screws - 1 - in the sensor wheel - 2 - are so severely deformed after installing the second time that screw heads make contact on the crankshaft - 3 - and sensor wheel lies loosely under the screws.
- Apply a thin coat of locking fluid (D 154 100 A1) to contact surfaces of crankshaft and sensor wheel for additional security.
- When installing, make sure that marking VR6 - arrow - aligns with the single threaded hole.
- Tighten all new securing bolts lightly by hand.
- First, tighten bolt - 1 - to 10 Nm + 90° (1/4) additional turn.
- Tighten the bolts - 2 - to 10 Nm + 90° (1/4) additional turn.
