Supercedes Technical Bulletin Group 61 number 07-07 dated Aug. 21, 2007 due to additional repairs required at sunroof drain hoses, header seal retainer(s) and header seal cutout.





Vehicles Affected

Condition

Windshield Frame Seal, Water Leak

Water intrusion is possible at windshield frame seal (along A-Pillar trim), sunroof drain hose (connection at side-bar), header seal side bar cutout, header seal retainer and dome light.

NOTE:
This technical bulletin pertains to the use of header seal part number 1Q0 871 409H ONLY.

Technical Background

Water intrusion is possible at the following locations:

^ Windshield frame seal

^ Header seal retainer

^ Dome light

^ Sunroof drain hose(s)

^ Header seal cutout at side bar(s) begin to collapse, allowing water to pass

Additionally, sunroof drain hose may be installed incorrectly.





^ Right hand A-Pillar shown, left hand similar.

^ Collapsed drain hose -2- with incorrect clip location -1- and incorrect drain hose routing -3-.

^ Always install drain hose as shown in 2. Sunroof Drain Hose Repair Procedure

Applies to all 2007, 2008 vehicles.

Service

Leak Verification

Verify source of water intrusion:

1. Loosen top header trim covers at corners.

2. Remove upper A-pillar trim covers.

3. Apply water along header seal and A-Pillars. Use water hose with spray nozzle (simulate rainfall) to verify location of water leak.

Begin with Header Seal Inspection and perform repairs in the following order:

1. Header Seal Repair Procedure (Up to VIN 1F_8V016303)

2. Sunroof Drain Hose Repair Procedure (All 2007, 2008 vehicles)

3. Header Seal Modification at Side Bar (Up to VIN 1F_8V016303)

Header Seal Inspection

If header seal displays evidence of previous repair with heavy use of adhesive, replace header seal.
