Hydraulic Cylinder in Roof Pillar

When the luggage compartment trim is installed, make sure the support is not positioned in the opening on the longitudinal member.

To support roof, both sides of luggage compartment trim should be either removed or installed.






- Open the roof with the convertible top switch until it is just before the position shown.

- Place Hinge Supports (VAS 6365) in lowest position - 2 -.

- Place the hinge supports (VAS 6365) in the mounting hole in the main hinge - 1 - and rotate the base - 4 - so that it is not positioned in the opening in the longitudinal.

- Switch ignition off, roof lowers in stages until supports - 4 - are resting on longitudinal member - 5 -.


Proceed with caution when reusing hydraulic cylinder.

Spring clips must not be pried completely out of ball socket, otherwise they will be damaged.

Spring clips should not be bent too much, otherwise they will be damaged.

The hydraulic cylinder can jump out of the mounts and injure the operator.

Hydraulic system is sensitive to any ingress of dirt.

Cover the components as soon as the system is opened to prevent contaminants from entering.

Gaskets must be replaced.






- Open bypass screw on hydraulic pump.

- Reach under spring clips - 3 - using a small screwdriver.

- Raise the spring clips- 3 - just far enough so they can slide over the ball socket in direction of the - arrow a -.

- Remove hydraulic cylinder - 1 - from ball studs - 2 - - arrow b -.

After removing hydraulic cylinder - 1 -, immediately slide back spring clips - 2 - again.

- Raise clip - 4 - far enough so it can slide over mounting pins - 5 - in - direction of arrow c -.

- Remove hydraulic cylinder - 1 - from mounting pins - 5 - - arrow d -.

- Remove hydraulic cylinder - 1 - from the roof pillar.

- Remove hydraulic line from hydraulic cylinder and secure. Refer to => [ Hydraulic Line on Hydraulic Cylinder ] Hydraulic Line on Hydraulic Cylinder.
