Fuel Tank Ventilation, Checking
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Hand Vacuum Pump (VAS 6213)
• Adapter for K-jetronic Test Device (V.A.G 1318/20-1)
Conditions
• The ignition must be turned off.
Sequence
- Remove the vent line - 2 -. Press the release button.
- Connect the (VAS 6213) - 1 - to ventilation line - 2 - for the Evaporative Emission (EVAP) canister as illustrated.
- Operate the (VAS 6213) several times. No vacuum should be built up.
Vacuum
- Check the breather hole at the EVAP canister => [ (Item 8) Vent Connection ] Evaporative Canister Components for contamination, clean if necessary.
No Vacuum
- Seal the breather hole - arrow - closed and operate the vacuum pump several times again. Vacuum must build up.
No Vacuum
- Replace EVAP canister.
