Battery Tester, Connecting to 6 Volt Batteries

Battery Tester, Connecting to 6 Volt Batteries

Notes for Checking 6 Volt Batteries With a Tester

When testing, both 6 volt batteries should be handled like a 12 volt unit.

The testing may only be done with two 6 volt batteries connected in series.

Never check 6 volt modules individually.

In order to check when removed, use a connecting line between the battery modules.

When connected in series, the voltage of the individual batteries adds together but the capacity remains the same.

Test Prerequisites

Both batteries must always be tested together.

The negative pole of left starter battery - 2 - must be connected with the positive pole of right starter battery - 4 - with a suitable cable - 3 -.

Battery Tester, Connecting To Batteries

- Connect tester to left starter battery positive pole - 1 - and right starter battery negative pole - 5 -.

- To check both batteries, set the battery tester low-temperature test current to the following value:

640 A EN/SAE - corresponding to the European and US standard.

The cold cranking output specifications are marked on the battery sticker under the voltage specifications or rated capacity specifications.
