Compass Displays Inaccurate Information (Vehicles With Out Navigation Radio)

Compass direction sporadically displays incorrect direction on instrument cluster (Non navigation radio vehicles).

Technical Background

Software fault.

Production Solution

SW 002 introduced as of 1F_9V012831.

Service

Tip:

DO NOT remove compass module from vehicle.

^ Connect Midtronics InCharge 940 (INC 940) tester/charger to vehicle's battery.

^ Verify that compass module HAS NOT been updated.





^ Select Vehicle Self - Diagnosis. Select On Board Diagnostics (OBD).





Select 1C-Vehicle position detection.





^ Verify the software level is at 001.

^ If software level is 002 or higher, this technical bulletin DOES NOT apply, further diagnosis required.
