Clutch System, Bleeding

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Brake Charger/Bleeder Unit (VAS 5234) or (V.A.G 1869)

It is not necessary to pre-fill the system.

For the correct brake fluid specification, refer to "Brake System, Bleeding with Brake Filler/Bleeder Unit VAS 5234 or VAG 1869".

- Remove the air filter housing if it is located near the battery. Refer to one of the following:

Diesel engines.

Gas engines.

- Connect the brake charger/bleeder unit (VAS 5234) or (V.A.G 1869).

- Connect the bleeder hose (670 mm) (V.A.G 1238/B3) to the brake bleeder unit collector bottle.

- Connect the bleeder hose - A - to the breather - arrow -.






- Apply 2 bar pressure to the system.

- Open the breather valve approximately 1/4 turn.

- Move the clutch pedal 15 to 20 times rapidly by hand from stop to stop.

- Close the breather valve and turn the bleeder device off.

- After completing the bleeding procedure, and the pressure has dropped from 2 bar, operate the clutch pedal an additional 10 times by foot.

- Install the air filter housing, if it was removed earlier. Refer to one of the following:

Diesel engines.

Gas engines.
