Handle with Rearview Camera (R189)
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1783)
The Rearview camera (R189) is installed in the handle button in the rear lid. It is necessary to remove the rear lid handle first in order to be able to remove the rearview camera. Only then can the rearview camera be removed from the handle.
• Turn off the ignition and all electrical consumers.
• Remove the key.
Removal
- Remove the rear lid trim panel.
- Open the wire holder from the wiring harness for the rearview camera near the connectors and remove both wires.
- Disconnect the connectors - 1 - and - 2 -.
- Remove the nuts - arrows -.
- Disconnect the connector - 4 -.
- Remove the button in the handle and the rearview camera - 3 - from the rear lid.
Remove the rearview camera from the handle. Refer to => [ Rearview Camera from Handle Button ] Rearview Camera (R189) from Handle Button.
Installation
Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal. Note the following:
- Tighten the threaded connections to the tightening specification. Refer to => [ Rear View Camera System Overview ] Rear View Camera System Overview.
- Fasten the rearview camera (R189) wires to a wire holder to prevent rattling.
- After installing, clean the rearview camera lens with lint-free cloth.
