Glove Compartment
Removal
- Turn off the ignition.
- Remove side instrument panel cover on front passenger side. Refer to => [ Instrument Panel Side Covers ] Instrument Panel Side Covers
- Remove the A-pillar center trim on the passenger side. Refer to => [ Center A-pillar Trim ] Center A-pillar Trim
- Remove passenger side A-pillar trim. Refer to => [ Passenger Side Lower A-pillar Trim ] Passenger Side Lower A-pillar Trim
Jetta from MY 2005 and Golf Wagon from MY 2007
- Remove the center cover (Jetta from MY 2005, Golf Wagon from MY 2007). Refer to => [ Center Cover ] Center Cover.
Jetta from MY 2010 and Golf Wagon from MY 2010
- Remove instrument panel center trim. Refer to => [ Instrument Panel Center Trim ] Instrument Panel Center Trim
- Remove the trim around the A/C and heater controls. Refer to => [ Heating and A/C Control Trim ] Heating and A/C Control Trim
- Remove the center cover (Jetta from MY 2010, Golf Wagon from MY 2010). Refer to => [ Center Cover ] Center Cover.
With Automatic Transmission
- Loosen boot from cover.
With Manual Transmission and Direct Shift Gearbox (DSG)
- Loosen boot from cover.
- Remove the storage compartment or ashtray (Jetta from MY 2010 and Golf Wagon from MY 2010). Refer to => [ Storage Compartment and Ashtray ] Storage Compartment and Ashtray
- Remove the cover on the center console - 1 - - in direction of arrow -.
- On vehicles with a Headlamp Range Control Module (J431) or a Headlamp Range/Cornering Lamp Control Module (J745), remove the bolt - 1 - (1.5 Nm).
All Vehicles
- Remove the 7 bolts - 1 -, - 2 -, and - 3 - (1.5 Nm)
- Slide glove compartment outward until stops - arrow A -.
- Disengage glove compartment from instrument panel - arrow B -.
- Disconnect wiring harness from lights and contact switch.
- In vehicles with glove compartment cooling, disconnect A/C channel from glove compartment.
- In vehicles with footwell lights, disconnect wiring harness from lights.
Installation
- To install, perform the steps used for removal in reverse order.
Storage Compartment Cover, Retrofitting
The self in the glove compartment for the Owner's Manual is not designed to hold small items. There is a cover that can be installed and can be used to hold small items.
• Glove compartment removed.
- Install the cover - 1 - in the back of the Owner's Manual slot.
