Ribbed Belt, Checking Condition
Perform the following:
- Turn the engine by the vibration damper/belt pulley using a socket.
Check ribbed belt - 1 - for:
• Sub-surface cracks (cracks, core ruptures, cross sectional breaks)
• Separation (cover layer, belt cords)
• Breaks at lower layer
• Fraying of cords
• Wear at flanks (material wear, frayed flanks, hardening or glazing of flanks, surface cracks)
• Oil or grease contamination
• Replace the belt if any damage is found.
• This will prevent any belt malfunctions.
• Replacing the belt is a repair procedure.
