Removing

CAUTION: Hot steam may escape when opening expansion tank. Wear protective goggles and protective clothing to prevent damage to eyes and scalding. Cover cap with a rag and open very carefully.

- Drain coolant.
- Bring lock carrier into service position. Removal and Replacement





- Support lock carrier using a sleeve - B - , 80 mm in length, e.g. from supplementary set for holding fixture VW 540/1 A and a bolt - A - , M8x100. Removal and Replacement





- Disconnect electrical harness connector - A -.





- Remove mounting bolts of air intake elbow - arrows -.
- Remove air intake elbow.

Installing
Installation is in reverse order of removal. When doing this note the following:

Tightening torques:
