Multi-function TR switch F125
Location: on front left side of transmission.
Valve body
Location: bolted to underside of transmission and covered by oil pan.
The following are secured to the valve body:
Solenoid valves N88 and N89
Pressure regulating valves N233, N91, N92, N93, N218 and N371.
Wiring harness, 8-pin
^ With integrated Transmission fluid temperature sensor G93 (arrow)
^ Sensor wiring harness
Location: secured to valve body and transmission.
4 Wiring harness, 14-pin
^ Solenoid valves wiring harness
Location: secured to valve body and transmission.
Automatic Transmission Hydraulic Pressure Sensor 1 G193 Automatic Transmission Hydraulic Pressure Sensor 2 G194
Location: in valve body.
1. Automatic Transmission Hydraulic Pressure Sensor 1 G193
2. Automatic Transmission Hydraulic Pressure Sensor 2 G194
Transmission Input Speed (RPM) Sensor G182 and Transmission Output Speed (RPM) Sensor G195
Location: in transmission housing above valve body.
1. Sensor for transmission RPM G182
2. Sender for transmission output RPM G195
Shift lock solenoid N110
Location: in selector mechanism (arrow).
Tiptronic switch F189
Location: integrated into printed circuit board which is located in selector lever cover.
The Tiptronic switch consists of hall sensors which are activated by a magnet (arrow) located on the cover strip sliding cover - 2 -.
If malfunctioning, first ensure that the magnet (arrow) is securely attached to the cover strip sliding cover - 2 -. Replace the cover strip if necessary. The selector mechanism cover with integrated printed circuit must only be replaced once the wiring has been checked.
On models with a multi-function steering wheel, the buttons on the steering wheel must also be checked along with the wiring connections.
Data Link Connector (DLC)
Location: (arrow) under shelf on the drivers side.
Transmission Range (TR) selector lever display Y6
Location: in instrument cluster
Automatic Transmission Control Module (TCM) J217 -
Location: (arrow) under inner plenum chamber cover.
Removing control module
- Switch ignition off.
- Remove defroster duct.
Note: The control module connector may only be connected or disconnected once a rundown period of 30 seconds has elapsed after switching the ignition off.
- Release connector (arrow - 1 - ) and remove connector from transmission control module (arrow - 2 - ).
Note: Separating the connector automatically resets the adaptation values of the transmission. The control module must relearn the values once the transmission is operational again. The quality of the gear changes may deteriorate during the learning phase.
- Remove nuts (arrow - 3 - ).
- Remove control module.
Installing control module
Install in reverse order.
- When reinstalling multi-pin connector, fit connector onto pin of TCM J217 (arrow - 1 - ) and then lock multi-pin connector in position (arrow - 2 - ).
- Tighten nuts (arrow - 3 - ) to 10 Nm.
- Connect VAS5051 and advance through programs until "Functions/selecting component" is displayed.
- Press "Drive".
- Press "6-speed automatic transmission 09G".
- Press "01 self-diagnosis".
- Press "Functions".
- Press "Initiate basic (default) setting".
Check Starting interlock relay J207
- Remove cover in driver footwell.
- Turn ignition key to position "Start".
- Move selector lever from position "S" to "P" and back to "S" again.
Starting interlock relay J207 must audibly and perceptibly operate.
Starter must operate in positions "N" or "P" as long as no fault exists.
If the relay does not operate:
- Check Starting interlock relay J207 and wiring connections plate according to wiring diagram.
