Heating and A/C Passenger Compartment Component Overview

CAUTION:
Before beginning repairs on the electrical system:
- Obtain the anti-theft radio security code.
- Switch off all electrical consumers.
- Switch off ignition and remove ignition key.
- Disconnect negative (-) battery terminal.
- When disconnecting and reconnecting battery terminals, observe all applicable Notes and torque specifications, as well as instructions on performing OBD program and electrical system function checks.
- Immediately plug open connections on A/C components to prevent dirt and moisture contamination.


NOTE:
- Before carrying out any work on the A/C refrigerant system, refer to A/C refrigerant system safety measures.
- System components identified with an * must only be serviced or replaced after discharging refrigerant system. Use Kent Moore ACR4 or equivalent.







1 - Heating and A/C controls
- With A/C Evaporator Temperature Switch E33
- With Fresh Air Blower Switch E9
- With Fresh Air Blower/Recirculated Air Switch E184
2 - Dust and pollen filter
3 - Side window air outlet
4 - Side air outlets
5 - Center air outlet console
6 - Instrument panel cross member
- Loosening and tightening.
7 - Fresh/Recirculating Air Door Motor V154
8 - Fresh Air Blower V2
9 - Fresh Air Blower Series Resistor With Fuse N24
- First remove Fresh Air Blower V2
10 - Intermediate duct
11 - Cables
12 - Rear footwell duct
13 - Gasket
14 - Connecting duct
- With front footwell air outlet
15 - Heater/evaporator unit*
16 - Heater core*
- Removing, heater/evaporator unit, disassembly and assembly
- Always use new coolant after replacement
17 - Heater core/bulkhead seal

- Remove instrument panel
- Loosen instrument panel cross member.
