• Use the chapter for the individual unit when removing and installing.
"Sound System" radio system => [ Sound System ] Sound System.
"Premium Sound System" radio system => [ Premium Sound System ] Premium Sound System.
"Radio Navigation System with Multi-Function Display 2 with DVD drive" navigation system => [ Radio-Navigation System ] Radio-Navigation System.
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Trim removal wedge (3409)
Removing
Before starting repair work, perform the following:
- If necessary, remove CDs remaining in the unit => Operating instructions.
- Switch off ignition, switch off all electrical consumers and remove ignition key.
Now, perform the following work procedure:
- Using trim removal wedge (3409), carefully pry out cover of center console in area of - arrows - and remove cover.
- Disengage connector at center console cover - arrows - and remove.
- Remove bolts - arrows - on radio navigation system.
- Pull radio navigation system out of installation compartment far enough until harness connectors on rear side of radio navigation system are accessible.
- Press together the connector lock in direction of - arrows -.
- Then swing mounting bracket out in direction of - arrow - and disconnect harness connector.
- Disengage harness connectors - arrows - from antenna connections and disconnect them.
Installing
- Insert connectors to radio navigation system and engage them.
- Slide radio navigation system straight into instrument panel.
• While sliding in the radio navigation unit, under no circumstances press on the display or control buttons since the radio unit may be damaged by doing this.
- Secure radio navigation system with 4 bolts - arrows -.
- Reinstall cover for center console.
- If necessary, deactivate anti-theft coding:
• Sound System => [ Sound System, Electronic Anti-Theft System ] Sound System, Electronic Anti-Theft System.
• Premium Sound System and Dynaudio Sound system => [ Premium Sound System, Electronic Anti-Theft System ] Premium Sound System, Electronic Anti-Theft System.
• Radio-Navigation System => [ Radio-Navigation System, Electronic Anti-Theft System ] Radio-Navigation System, Electronic Anti-Theft System.
- Check radio navigation unit coding and recode if necessary.

OBD Function
The radio navigation system is equipped with On Board Diagnostic (OBD).
When performing fault-finding, use Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System (VAS 5051) or Vehicle Diagnosis and Service System (VAS 5052) in the function " Guided Fault Finding".
