Condition
Radio Cuts Out While Driving Radio or Bass cuts out intermittently while driving.
Radio may or may not return to normal operation.
Technical Background
Power supply splice, B219, located under the driver's seat and routed to radio amplifier, may have corroded splice connection(s).
Production Solution
No production change required.
Service
EXAMPLE
- Remove driver sill panel, see Interior Equipment, in ElsaWeb.
- Pull back carpet to expose wire harness, see Figure 1.
- Verify corrosion in wire splice similar to, or as shown in Figure 2.
- Repair splice using Wiring Harness Repair Kit Part No. VAS 1978 A, see Wiring, in ElsaWeb.
TIP:
If no damage is found with the wiring harness splice, continue with normal diagnostics.
