Valve Cover: Service and Repair






Cylinder Head Cover

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Spring Type Clip Pliers (VAS 5024 A)

Ignition Coil Puller (T40039)

Removing

- Remove the engine cover/upper air filter housing. Refer to => [ Engine Cover/Upper Air Filter Housing ] Engine Cover/Upper Air Filter Housing.

- Remove the toothed belt cover bolts - arrows -.





- Remove the ignition coils with power output stage. Refer to => [ Ignition Coils with Power Output Stages ] Service and Repair.





- Disconnect the Evaporative Emission (EVAP) line - 1 - from the cylinder head cover.

- Remove the crankcase ventilation valve bolts - arrows - and valve from the cylinder head cover.

- Remove the vent tube bolts - 1 -, vent tube and heat shield from the turbocharger.





- Disconnect the vent hose - 2 - from the cylinder head cover.

- Loosen the cylinder head cover bolts working from the outside toward the inside.

- Remove the cylinder head cover.

Installing

Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal, noting the following:

Replace the cylinder head cover seals if damaged.

- Tighten the cylinder head cover bolts in several stages and in the designated sequence.





- Observe the correct positioning of the upper toothed belt guard.
