Evaporative Emission System Components
• Hose connections are secured with either spring type or clamp type clips.
• Hose clip pliers (VAS 6340) or hose clip pliers (VAS 6362) are recommended for installing spring-loaded band-type clamps.
Meaning of the colors or colored marks on the connector couplings for the fuel, vacuum and ventilation lines.

Evaporative Emission Canister
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Engine/Transmission Jack (V.A.G 1383 A)
Removing
- Remove the center and rear mufflers.
- Remove the heat shield bolts - arrows - and shield.
- For supporting purposes, place the (V.A.G 1383 A) under the rear subframe.
- Loosen the bolts - arrows - for the rear subframe and unscrew them approximately 20 mm.
- Slowly lower the rear subframe using (V.A.G 1383 A).
- Disconnect the vent lines - A - by pressing the release button.
- Remove the bolts - B -.
• A reinforcement plate is installed on the Eos. Use the (3185) to loosen and tighten the bolts - B -.
- Release the retaining straps - A - using a screwdriver. Rotate the EVAP canister approximately 90° clockwise - B - and remove the EVAP canister.
Installing
Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal, noting the following:
- Connect the ventilation lines until they engage audibly.
- Install the rear subframe.

Leak Detection Pump
Removing
- Remove the right rear wheel housing liner.
- Disconnect the vacuum line - 1 -.
- Disconnect the electrical connector - 2 -.
- Disconnect the vent line - 3 - by pressing release button.
- Remove the nuts - arrows -.
- Disengage the Lead Detection Pump (LDP) with bracket.
Installing
Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal, noting the following:
• Vent line - 3 - must engage audibly.
- Install the right rear wheel housing liner.

Leak Detection Pump
Removing
- Remove the vacuum line - 1 -, ventilation line - 2 - and ventilation line - 3 -.
- Remove the nuts - arrows -.
- Remove the Leak Detection Pump (LDP) with bracket and disconnect the electrical connector.
Installing
Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal, noting the following:
• Before installing the LDP with bracket, connect the electrical connector.
• Vent line - 2 - must engage audibly.
