Over Center Spring, Mounting Bracket Removed

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Assembly Tool (T10178)

Removing

- Remove the mounting bracket. Refer to one of the following:

Eos, refer to => [ Mounting Bracket ]. Mounting Bracket

Passat, Passat CC and CC, refer to => [ Mounting Bracket ]. Mounting Bracket

- Carefully mount the lower area of the clutch pedal in a vise with protective jaws.

- Remove the clutch pedal from the master cylinder. Refer to => [ Master Cylinder ]. Master Cylinder

- Push the over center spring off from the clutch pedal - arrow 1 - and pivot the mounting bracket simultaneously in the - direction of arrow 2 -.





- Carefully release the over center spring.

- Pivot the mounting bracket to the original position again and remove the over center spring.

Installing

• Clutch pedal is disconnected from the master cylinder.

- Carefully mount the lower area of the clutch pedal in a vise with protective jaws.

- Install the over center spring into the mounting bracket.

- The mounting area - arrow - for the clutch pedal pivot - A - must be positioned vertically.





- Install the (T10178) in the center area of the over center spring and pivot the mounting bracket on.

- Compress the over center spring - arrow 1 -.





- At the same time, move the mounting bracket so far downward - arrow 2 - until the over center spring can be pressed onto the pivot - A - of the clutch pedal.

CAUTION!
If installed incorrectly, the over center spring will jump uncontrolled out of the mounting bracket.

Place a cloth over the over center spring.

Check the function of the over center spring.

In addition, move the mounting bracket up and down several times.

- Connect the clutch pedal to the master cylinder. Refer to => [ Master Cylinder ]. Master Cylinder

- Install the mounting bracket. Refer to one of the following:

Eos, refer to => [ Mounting Bracket ]. Mounting Bracket

Passat, Passat CC and CC, refer to => [ Mounting Bracket ]. Mounting Bracket
