Fuel Tank: Locations
Fuel Tank and Components Overview
1 Supply Line
• Clipped to the fuel tank.
• Ensure the line is securely seated.
2 Locking Ring
• 110 Nm
• Ensure the locking ring is securely seated.
• Use wrench (T10202) for removal and installation.
3 Cap
• Replace if damaged.
4 Bolt
• 1.5 Nm
5 Fuel Filler Door Unit
• With rubber gasket.
6 Vent Line
• Clipped to the fuel tank.
• Ensure the line is securely seated.
7 Vacuum Line
• Clipped to the fuel tank.
• Ensure the line is securely seated.
8 Ground Connection
• To the protective plate for the fuel filler tube.
• Ensure the connection is securely seated.
9 Ground Connection
• Ensure the connection is securely seated.
• Check for good contact to the body.
10 Clamp
11 Suction Jet Pump
• Clipped in at the fuel level sensor 2.
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Suction Jet Pump ] Fuel System Components.
12 Bolt
• 25 Nm
• Replace
• To secure the fuel tank straps, only bolts with loose washers may be used. If other bolts are used, the straps could twist when the bolts are tightened.
13 Seal
• Replace
• To install, place into the opening of the fuel tank dry.
• Lubricate with fuel only when installing the flange.
14 Fuel Level Sensor 2 (G169)
• Note the installed position on the fuel tank
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Fuel Level Sensor 2 ] Fuel System Components.
15 Fuel Tank
• Draining => [ Fuel Tank, Draining ] Fuel Tank, Draining.
• Removing and installing, refer to one of the following:

=> [ Fuel Tank, from 07.07 ] Fuel System Components.
16 Heat Shield
• Installed with lock washers.
17 Bolt
• 25 Nm
• Replace
• Bolt for the securing strap, heat shield and center muffler suspended mount. Securing the center muffler suspended mount to the body. Refer to => [ Mufflers and Mounts Overview ] Mufflers and Mounts Overview.
18 Securing Strap
19 Protective Plate
• For the fuel filler tube.
20 Fuel Delivery Unit
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Fuel Delivery Unit ] Fuel Delivery Unit.
• If the fuel delivery unit was replaced, adapt the Engine Control Module (ECM) to the fuel pump, refer to "Guided Functions" in the vehicle diagnostic tester.
• Fuel pump, checking. Refer to => [ Fuel Pump, Checking ] Fuel Pump, Checking.
• With the fuel level sensor (G).
• Fuel level sensor removing and installing. Refer to => [ Fuel Level Sensor ] Fuel System Components.
• Clean the strainer if contaminated.

22 Flange with Fuel Filter
• With pressure relief valve 6.2 bar.
• Note the installed position on the fuel tank.
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Fuel Delivery Unit ] Fuel Delivery Unit.
Fuel Delivery Unit and Fuel Level Sensor 2 Flange, Installed Location
The mark on the flange must align with the mark on the fuel tank - arrow -.
• The mark on the fuel tank is difficult to see.
