Fuel Level Sensor 2
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Wrench (T10202)
• Torque Wrench (40 to 200 Nm) (V.A.G 1332)
Requirement
• Fuel tank may be a maximum of 1/2 full.
Removing
• Read the safety precautions before beginning work. Refer to => [ Safety Precautions ] Fuel Supply.
• Observe the rules for cleanliness. Refer to => [ Clean Working Conditions ] Fuel Supply.
• Fuel tank and components overview. Refer to => [ Fuel Tank and Components Overview ] Fuel Tank and Components Overview.
• Make sure the float arm on the fuel level sensor 2 (G169) is not bent.
- Drain the fuel tank as necessary using (VAS 5190). Refer to => [ Fuel Tank, Draining ] Fuel Tank, Draining.
- Remove the rear seat bench.
- Disconnect the connector from the all wheel drive control module (J492) - arrow -.
- Remove the grommet - 1 - from the cover and guide the all wheel drive control module wiring harness downward and out.
- Remove the cover - 1 - and disconnect the 3 pin connector - arrow - from the flange.
- Remove the locking ring using (T10202).
- Pull the fuel level sensor 2 upward slightly and unclip the suction jet pump locking tabs - arrows -.
Installing
CAUTION!
Do not bend the fuel level sensor 2 float arm when installing.
- Install the fuel level sensor 2 in fuel tank.
- Connect the suction jet pump to the sensor inside the fuel tank. Suction jet pump locking tabs - arrows - must engage.
Further installation is performed in reverse order. When doing this note the following:
• Only lubricate the seal with fuel when installing the flange
- Note the flange location - B -:
The mark on the flange must align with the mark on the fuel tank - arrow -.
• The mark on the fuel tank is difficult to see.

- Install and tighten the locking ring using (T10202). Tightening specification: 110 Nm.
- Note the location of the cover - B -:
- Arrow - on the cover must point in the direction of travel.
