Cylinder Head Assembly Overview
Note:
^ Replace cylinder head bolts.
^ Always replace self-locking nuts, bolts which have been tightened to tightening specifications as well as gaskets and O-rings.
^ The plastic protectors installed to protect the open valves must only be removed immediately before fitting the cylinder head.
^ When replacing the cylinder head or cylinder head gasket, coolant must be completely replaced.

Crankcase Ventilation Tightening Sequence
- Tighten crankcase ventilation bolts to 11 Nm in - 1 to 10 - sequence.
Loosen Cylinder Head
- Remove bolts - arrows -.
- Loosen cylinder head bolts in sequence - 1 to 5 -.
Cylinder Head Tightening Sequence
- Tighten cylinder head bolts in sequence - 1 to 5 -.
- Tighten to 40 Nm using a torque wrench.
- Tighten further 90 degree using a rigid wrench.
- Tighten further 90 degree using a rigid wrench.
- Pre-tighten bolts - arrows - to 8 Nm.
- Tighten bolts - arrows - 90 degree further using a rigid wrench.
Checking Cylinder Head for Distortion
- Check cylinder head on several locations for distortion using a 500 mm straight edge VAS 6075 and a feeler gauge.
^ The maximum permissible distortion is 0.05 mm
