Powertrain Mount, Adjusting (Passat)

Note:
^ If only the subframe on the engine side will be adjusted, hook 10-222A/10 will be sufficient. It is not necessary to remove the air filter, battery and battery plate.

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
^ Engine Support Bridge 10-222A
^ Bracket with Spindle and Hook 10-222A/10, qty. 2
^ Shackle 10-222A/12
^ Frame 10-222A/1
^ Adapter 10-222A/8

- Remove engine cover.
- Remove air filter.

CAUTION: Risk of destroying electrical components when battery is disconnected. Observe proper procedure when disconnecting battery.





- With ignition switched off, disconnect the ground cable - arrow - on the battery.
- Remove battery.





- Remove battery tray - arrows -.
- Position engine support bridge 10-222A with the following tool components as illustrated.





Passat
^ Engine Brackets 10-222A/1 qty. 2
^ Bracket with Spindle and Hook 10-222A/10, qty. 2
^ Shackle 10-222A/12





Passat CC
^ Adapter 10-222A/8 qty. 2
^ Bracket with Spindle and Hook 10-222A/10, qty. 2
^ Shackle 10-222A/12

CAUTION: Do not place adapter 10-222A/8 on the fender panels!

Note:
^ The shackle 10-222A/12 is needed to make sure the engine is lifted in the installation position and not tipped away.

All
- Support the engine with the transmission but do not lift it.





- Replace the engine mount bolts on the engine side - arrows - one after the other (if not already done when the engine was installed) and hand-tighten.

Manual Transmission





- Replace transmission mount bolts on the transmission side - arrows - one after the other (if not already done when the engine was installed) and hand-tighten.

Automatic Transmission





- Replace the transmission mount bolts on the transmission side - arrows - one after the other (if not already done when the engine was installed) and hand-tighten.

All
- Loosen left and right support arm bolts approximately 2 turns.
- Adjust the transmission mount and hand-tighten the bolts.





^ There must be a distance - a - of at least 10 mm present between engine support and right longitudinal member.
^ Casting edge on engine support - 2 - must stand parallel to bracket - 1 -.

Manual Transmission





^ On transmission side, edges of support arm - 1 - and transmission mount - 2 - are parallel.
^ Dimension - x - same size on both sides of bracket.

Automatic Transmission





^ On the transmission side, the edges of the support arm - A - and the transmission mount - B - are parallel.
^ Dimension - x - same size on both sides of bracket.

All
- Tighten transmission frame bolts to specification.

Further installation is in reverse order.
