Exhaust System Assembly Overview (Passat, CCTA)







1 - 25 Nm
2 - Suspended Mount
- Replace if damaged
3 - Gasket
- Replace
4 - 40 Nm
- Replace
- Coat stud bolts on exhaust manifold with hot bolt paste.
- Hot bolt paste G 052 112 A3
5 - Oxygen Sensor Bank 1, sensor 1
- 55 Nm
- Thread of new oxygen sensors is coated with hot bolt paste.
- When re-using the previous oxygen sensor, grease only the threads with hot bolt paste; the paste must not get into slots of oxygen sensor body
- Hot bolt paste G 052 112 A3
6 - Front Exhaust Pipe with Catalytic Converters

CAUTION:
Danger of damaging the decoupling element.
- Decoupling element must not be bent more than 10 degrees.
- Do not load decoupling element on cable.
- Do not damage wire mesh at decoupling element.


- Protect catalytic converter from shocks and impact stress
- Install exhaust system free of stress.
7 - Oxygen Sensor
- Bank 1, sensor 2
- 55 Nm
- Thread of new oxygen sensors is coated with hot bolt paste.
- When re-using the previous oxygen sensor, grease only the threads with hot bolt paste; the paste must not get into slots of oxygen sensor body
- Hot bolt paste G 052 112 A3
8 - Retaining Loop
- Replace if damaged
9 - Suspended Mount
- Replace if damaged
10 - Rear Muffler
- Original equipment as one unit with center muffler. For repairs, replace each separately.
- Separating exhaust system.
11 - Nut
- 25 Nm
12 - Rear Clamping Sleeve
- For individual replacement of center and rear mufflers
- Installed location.
- Tighten bolts evenly
13 - Center Muffler
- Original equipment as one unit with rear muffler. For repairs, replace each separately.
- Separating exhaust system.
14 - Nut
- 25 Nm
15 - Front Clamping Sleeve
- Installed location.
- Tighten bolts evenly
16 - Suspended Mount
- For center muffler
