Camshaft bar (T10068A)

Test Sequence

- Remove the intake manifold and cylinder head cover. Refer to => [ Cylinder Head Cover ] Cylinder Head Cover.

- Rotate the crankshaft using the vibration damper bolt in the direction of engine rotation to the Top Dead Center (TDC) cylinder 1 marking - arrow -.

- It must be possible to install the (T10068A) into both camshaft grooves.

If the (T10068A) cannot be installed:

- Rotate the crankshaft one turn in direction of engine rotation.

If the (T10068A) still cannot be installed, turn the crankshaft in direction of engine rotation until approximately 5 mm above the TDC position cylinder 1 (limited via tolerances of drive chains).

- Verify the installation markings on the camshaft adjuster with the markings on the control housing.

Marks - A and B - on the camshaft adjusters must align with the notches - arrows - on the control housing - C -. For markings on the control housing, refer to => [ Control Housing Markings with Multi-Port Injection
(MPI) Engines ].

The distance between tooth - 1 - and tooth - 2 - of the camshaft adjusters must be exactly 16 rollers of the camshaft roller chain.

Illustration shows a cover which has been removed.

If the markings do not match:

- Adjust the valve timing. Refer to => [ Valve Timing, Adjusting ] Adjustments.

If the markings match:

- Install the cylinder head cover and intake manifold. Refer to => [ Cylinder Head Cover ] Cylinder Head Cover.
