Fuel Tank And Components Assembly Overview

NOTE:
- Fuel hoses at engine may only be secured with spring-type clamps appropriate for the model type.
- Pliers for spring clamps VAS 5024 A or hose clamp pliers V.A. G 1921 are recommended for installing spring clamps.







1 - Supply line
- Black
- Ensure seated tightly
2 - Return line
- Blue
- Ensure seated tight
3 - Seal
- Replace
- To install, place into opening of fuel tank dry
- Lubricate with fuel only when installing flange
4 - Fuel delivery unit
- If fuel delivery unit was replaced, adapt engine control module to Fuel Pump (FP) "Guided Functions"
- Check fuel pump.
- Note installation position on fuel tank
- With fuel level sensor G
- Sender for fuel gauge, removing and installing.
- Clean strainer if soiled
5 - Locking ring, 110 Nm
- Ensure seated tightly
- Use wrench T10202 for removal and installation
6 - Vent line
- From gravity valve to EVAP canister
- Clipped in on bracket in wheel housing
- To disconnect, press release button on connection piece
7 - Cap
- Replace if damaged
8 - Bolt
9 - Tank flap unit
- With rubber gasket
10 - Ground connection
- Ensure seated tightly
11 - 10 Nm
12 - Protective plate
- For fuel delivery connection
- Make sure the ground connection is seated securely
13 - 10 Nm
14 - Cable bracket
- Clipped in on protective plate
15 - Fuel level sensor 2 G169
- Note installation position on fuel tank.
16 - Suction jet pump
- Clipped in at fuel level sensor 2 G169
17 - Fuel tank
- Support using engine/transmission jack V.A.G 1383 A when removing
18 - Securing strap
- Note installation position
19 - 25 Nm
- Replace
20 - Heat shield
- Riveted to exhaust system mounting parts
21 - 3 Nm
22 - Vent line
- White
- From EVAP canister to evaporative emission (EVAP) canister purge regulator valve N80
- Do not kink
- To disconnect, press release button on connection piece
- Clipped in at fuel tank
23 - Vacuum line
- Green
- From Leak Detection Pump (LDP) V144 to intake manifold
- Clipped in at fuel tank
- Ensure seated tightly
24 - Supply line
- To fuel rail
25 - Fuel filter
- Installation position: Arrow points in direction of flow
26 - 8 Nm.







Fuel Delivery Unit Flange Installation Location
- The tab - 2 - on locking flange faces toward the arrow marking and must lie between tabs - 1 - and - 3 - on fuel tank.

NOTE: Arrow - points in direction of travel.







Fuel Level Sensor 2 G169 Installation Location
- The tab - 2 - on the fuel level sensor 2 G169 flange faces toward the arrow mark and must be between tabs - 1 - and - 3 - on the fuel tank.

NOTE: - Arrow - points in direction of travel.

Pin - 2 - on filter housing must engage in recess of guide - 1 - on filter bracket.
