Left Flange Shaft and Seal






Left Flange Shaft and Seal

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Slide hammer-complete set (VW 771)

Pulling hook (VW 771/37)

Thrust piece (3305)

Torque wrench (5-50 Nm) (VAG 1331)

Torque wrench (40-200 Nm) (VAG 1332)

Removing

- Remove the left wheel.

- Remove the noise insulation.

- Remove the lower part of the front left wheel housing liner..

- Remove the left drive axle.

- Place a drain pan under the transmission.

- Remove the flange shaft bolts, by installing two bolts into the flange shaft and counter holding the flange shaft using a pry bar.





- Remove the flange shaft together with spring.

- Pull out the seal using the (VW 771) and the (VW 771/37).





Installing

- Lightly lubricate the outer circumference of the new seal.

- Fill half of the volume between the sealing lip and dust lip with sealing grease (G 052 128).

- Drive the new seal in until seated; be sure not to distort the seal.





- Insert the flange shaft.

- Install a new flange shaft bolt and tighten to 30 Nm.

- Install the ball joint to the old impressions on the control arm using new nuts..

- Install the left drive axle.

- Install the lower part of the left front wheel housing liner..

- Check the gear oil. Refer to => [ Oil Filter, Changing and Oil Level, Adjusting ] 02E Transmission (Direct Shift Gearbox).

- Install the noise insulation.

- Install the left wheel
