Wheel Bearing and Wheel Hub
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Grease Cap Puller (VW 637/2)
• Seal Installer (3241)
• Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1332)
• Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1410)
• Bit XZN 18 (T10162)
Removing
- Raise vehicle.
- Remove wheel.
Loosen dust cap from its seat by tapping lightly on (VW 637/2 ) claw.
- Press off dust cap.
- Remove brake carrier with brake caliper and hang on body with tie wire.
• Suspend brake caliper from body.
- Remove Phillips bolt for brake disc and take out brake disc.
- Remove multi-point socket head bolt using (T10162).
- Pull wheel hubs/wheel bearing unit off stub axle.
Installing
- Carefully slide wheel hub/wheel bearing unit onto stub axle.
Make sure that wheel hubs/wheel bearing unit do not cant!
- Tighten using a new multi-point socket head bolt.
• First tighten the bolt to the given tightening specification using the torque wrench.
• Use solid wrench for additional torque angle.
- Drive dust cap on with installation sleeve (3241/4 ).
• Always replace dust caps.
• Damaged dust caps allow moisture to enter. Therefore, always use the tool shown.
Rest of installation is the reverse of removal.
- Install wheel and tighten. Refer to => [ Wheel Bolt Tightening Specification ] Specifications.
