Front Exhaust Pipe with Catalytic Converter
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Torque Wrench (5-50 Nm) (V.A.G 1331)
• Hot bolt paste
Removing
- Remove the right underbody trim fasteners - arrows - and trim.
Engine Codes BGP and CBTA
- Unclip wire - arrow -, pull off bracket - 1 - and disconnect connector - 2 - for Oxygen Sensor (O2S) behind Three Way Catalytic Converter (TWC) (G130).
Engine Codes BGQ and CBUA
- Unclip wire - arrows -, pull off bracket - 2 - and disconnect connectors - 1 - for O2S behind TWC and - 3 - for O2S in center TWC, Bank 1 (G465).
Continuation for All
- Loosen the bolts for the clamp - 1 -. The front crossmember nuts - arrows - for the vehicle floor must NOT be removed.
• The flex joint in the front exhaust pipe must not be bent more than 10 °, otherwise it may be damaged.
- Remove the front exhaust pipe nuts - 2 - from the manifold and the suspended mount bolts - 3 -.
- Remove the front exhaust pipe with catalytic converter - 1 - from the exhaust manifold, slide toward front at sides and guide under the front crossmember.
Installing
Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal. When doing this note the following:
• Replace gaskets and self-locking nuts.
• Install the exhaust system free of stress. Refer to => [ Exhaust System, Installing ] Exhaust System, Installing.
Tightening Specification
• 1 Coat stud bolts on exhaust manifold with hot bolt paste
