Cylinder Head

Cylinder Head

Because of the threaded connection of the cylinder head through the aluminum cylinder block into the upper bearing bracket, both cylinder heads must always be removed. If the cylinder head bolts are loosened or tightened on one side, the cylinder block is warped.

Secure the engine to the engine and transmission holder (VAS 6095) when working on it.

When using an exchanged cylinder head with a camshaft installed, the contact surfaces between the lifters and cam lobes must be lubricated before installing the cylinder head cover.

The plastic protectors installed to protect the open valves must only be removed immediately before installing the cylinder head.

When the cylinder heads are replaced, all the coolant must also be replaced.
