Air Cleaner Housing: Description and Operation

Air Filter Housing Overview

• Use the spring type clip pliers (VAS 5024 A) to install spring clips.

• The components illustrated here are for cylinder bank 2. They are a mirror image of the components for cylinder bank 1.

• Line connection for air suspension, refer to => [ Line Connection for Air Suspension ].

• Replace if damaged.

6 Intake Manifold

7 Mass Airflow Sensor

Cylinder bank 1:

• Mass airflow sensor (G70).

Cylinder bank 2:

• Mass airflow sensor 2 (G246).

8 Bolt

• 6 Nm

• Use the spring type clip pliers (VAS 5024 A) to remove and install.

Removing and Installing the Securing Pins





Removing

- Using an appropriate socket, turn the securing pins until the marks - A - on pins and - B - on the housing align.

- Remove the pins upward.

Installing

- Press the pins into the holes up to the stop and twist them approximately 180° using an appropriate socket.

Line Connection for Air Suspension





- Using a screwdriver - C -, pry off the green sealing ring - 1 - from the line flange- 3 -.

- Press the securing sleeve - 2 - in the - direction of the arrow - and disconnect the line - B - from the air filter housing connection - A -.
