Multifunction Transmission Range Switch

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Setting Gauge (T10173)

Torque Wrench (5-50 Nm) (V.A.G 1331)

Removing

For reasons of clarity, the transmission is shown removed throughout this procedure.

- Place the selector lever in the "P" position.

- Disconnect the selector lever cable from the lever/selector shaft.

- Remove the nut - 4 - from the selector shaft.





- Remove the cover - 3 -.

- Carefully bend back the tabs on the lock washer - 1 - using a screwdriver.

If one tab breaks off, the lock washer must be replaced.

- Remove the nut - 2 - and lock washer - 1 - from the selector shaft.

- Disconnect the connector from the multifunction transmission range switch (F125).

- Remove the bolts - B arrows - and remove the multifunction transmission range switch - arrow A - from the selector shaft.

Installing and adjusting

- Move the selector shaft lever on the transmission to the "N" position.

- Install the multifunction transmission range switch to the selector shaft.

- Instal the bolts - B arrows - hand tight.





- Install the (T10173) onto the selector shaft.





- Turn the switch until the tab on the connector - arrow 1 - engages the groove in the (T10173).





- Tighten the bolts - B arrows - to 6 Nm.





- Remove the (T10173) from the selector shaft.

- Connect the selector lever cable.

Further installation is performed in reverse order.

- Check the selector lever cable adjustment. Refer to => [ Selector Lever Cable, Checking and Adjusting ] Adjustments.
