Parking Brake System: Service and Repair






Parking Brake, Adjusting

Adjusting must only be performed on both adjustment devices for the rear wheels! Adjustments must never be performed at the foot operated parking brake lever or transfer module on the center console!

Observe the correct routing and guiding of the parking brake cables!

If the park brake shoes were replaced, adjust the air gap to the 6th tooth. Then run in the brake shoes by braking the vehicle in a single maneuver from a speed of approximately 50 km/h. Rear wheels must not lock up when doing so.

- Foot operated parking brake lever in the released position.

- Remove the rear wheels.

Brake discs must move freely. If necessary, press the brake pads slightly back or move the rear brake cables slightly forward and backward.

- Remove the locking bolt - arrow - for the parking brake adjustment nut.





Brake Shoes on Both Wheels, Adjusting

- Push the screwdriver through the hole in the brake disc and turn the adjustment nut - A - against the resistance of the pull spring - B - until the brake disc can no longer be turned.





- Then loosen the adjustment nut 6 teeth. Brake discs must move freely again.

- Free play of the foot operated parking brake lever must be checked again.

- Install the wheels.

Pedal Parking Brake Lever, Checking Play

Press the foot brake pedal 2 teeth, wheels must rotate freely without the brake shoes dragging.

Press the foot operated parking brake lever 5 to 7 teeth, wheels must be fixed. In case wheels can still be rotated, parking brake must be adjusted.
