Antenna: Description and Operation
Antenna System
The antenna system consists of a rear window antenna system for the radio reception with diversity as well as a roof antenna (RX5) for the cellular phone and navigation system. USA and Canada vehicles also have an optional antenna for satellite radio reception integrated inside the roof antenna.
For the rear window antenna, positive and negative frequency filters are installed.
The antenna system with diversity function serves to improve and optimize the reception quality in the vehicle.
The diversity functions are directly integrated in the radio or radio/navigation system unit; there is no additional control module for antenna selection in the vehicle.
