Hot air gun (V.A.G 1416)

Removing

It is not possible to remove the body side moldings without damaging them.






- Heat the body side moldings - 1 - and - 2 - with the hot air blower (V.A.G 1416) before removing them, and then remove them.

- Remove any remaining adhesive with adhesive remover (VAS 6349).

Installation

The illustration shows a left fender. The right fender is identical.

Only remove the protective film right before assembly.

Stand time after installing body side moldings is approximately 4 hours at an ambient temperature of approx. 70°F (21°C)






- Clean the adhesive surface with adhesive remover thoroughly before bonding the outer door seal.

The adhesive surface must be free of dust, grease and adhesive residue.

- Center the body side moldings - 1 - and - 4 - with the centering drift - 2 and 3 - in the centering hole.

- Always peel the protective films partially off of the adhesive tape - 5 -.

- Start at the rear of the front molding - 4 - and at the front of rear molding - 1 -.

- Immediately firmly press on the body side moldings in the area of the removed protective film.
