Door Locks: Service and Repair

Door Lock

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Torque wrench 5 to 50 Nm (V.A.G 1331)

• Socket (3410)

• Removing and installing the door lock is described. Removing and installing the left door lock is identical.

Removing






- Remove subframe. Refer to => [ Subframe ] Subframe.

- Remove the door handle.

- Remove the door window. Refer to => [ Front Door Window ] Front Door Window.

- Loosen the rear window regulator => [ Rear Window Regulator ] Rear Window Regulator.

- Remove the bolt - 4 - for the bracket - 6 -.

- Remove the bolts - 2 -.

- Remove the lock upward - arrow a - from the guides in the door.

- Remove the entire lock with the bracket and the cable - 7 - out from the door - arrow b -.

Installation






Install in reverse order of removal.

- Tightening specification for screw - 4 -: 1.5 Nm.

- Screw tightening specification - 2 -: 18 Nm.

• Then a function test must be performed because the lock will not open if the release cable is not adjusted and secured correctly.
