Jump Starting: Service and Repair

Jump Start Point, Removing and Installing

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1331)

Removing

- Switch off the ignition and all electrical consumers and move the ignition key or start button into the 0 position (preliminary engaged position).

- Disconnect the battery. Refer to => [ Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting ] Removal and Replacement.

• Air filter housing is removed for reasons of clarity. It is not required when doing repairs.

- Disengage retaining clip - arrow A - and open cover - 1 - over positive pole pick-up.






- Disengage cover - 2 - over electrical wires in - direction of arrow B -.

- Remove the nuts - 5 - and - 6 - (15 Nm) on the positive wires.






- Disconnect electrical harness connector - 1 - at suppressor - 4 -.

- Remove the bolt - 3 - (9 Nm) and the positive terminal pick-up - 2 - from the retainer with the suppressor.

Installing

Install in reverse order.

- Tighten all threaded connections to the specifications given in the text.

- Connect the battery. Refer to => [ Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting ] Removal and Replacement.
