Front Axle Toe, Adjusting

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Torque Wrench (40-200 Nm) (V.A.G 1332)

Tool Insert AF24 (V.A.G 1332/11)

- Loosen the lock nut - 3 -, counter hold at the tie rod end - 2 - when doing so.






- Remove the spring clamp - 1 - from the boot.

- Set the toe by twisting the left and/or right tie rod.

For this purpose, an open end wrench can be placed on the hex head of the tie rod.

Be sure that boots are not twisted after turning the tie rods!

Twisted boots wear out quickly.

- Tighten the lock nut using the tool insert AF 24 (V.A.G 1332/11) , counter holding at the tie rod end - 1 -.






- Check the toe value again.

The setting may change slightly after the lock nut is tightened.

If the measured toe nevertheless lies within the tolerance, the adjustment is correct.

- Install the spring clamp on the boot.
