Steering System Component Overview
1 Universal Joint
2 Bolt
• M8 x 35
• 30 Nm
• Always replace if removed.
3 Steering Gear
• With the power steering control module.
• With the electromechanical power steering motor.
• With steering torque sensor.
• Can be checked in Guided Fault Finding using the vehicle diagnostic tester.
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Steering Gear ] Steering Gear.
• Correct any faults stored in the Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) memory before replacing the steering gear. Refer to the vehicle diagnostic tester.
4 Wheel Bearing Housing
5 Nut
• M12 x 1.5
• Tighten to 100 Nm, then loosen 180° (1/2) turn and tighten to 100 Nm again.
• Self-locking
• Always replace if removed.
6 Subframe
7 Bolt
• M10 x 70
• 50 Nm + an additional 90° (1/4) turn.
• Always replace if removed.
8 Heat Shield
9 TORX(R) Bolt
• 6 Nm
• Self-tapping
10 Electrical Wire
