Electronic Components and Locations
1 Transmission Control Module (J217)
• The control module sends and receives data from the Data bus.
• Can be checked using the vehicle diagnostic tester under "Guided Fault Finding". Refer to => [ Vehicle Diagnosis Tester, Connecting and Selecting Functions ] Scan Tool Testing and Procedures.
2 Engine Control Module
• The control module sends and receives data from the Data bus.
3 Multifunction Transmission Range Switch (F125)
• Can be checked using the vehicle diagnostic tester under "Guided Fault Finding". Refer to => [ Vehicle Diagnosis Tester, Connecting and Selecting Functions ] Scan Tool Testing and Procedures.
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Multifunction Transmission Range Switch F125 ] Service and Repair.
• Adjusting, refer to => [ Multifunction Transmission Range Switch, Adjusting ] Adjustments.
4 Valve Body
• Check the components using the vehicle diagnostic tester under "Guided Fault Finding". Refer to => [ Vehicle Diagnosis Tester, Connecting and Selecting Functions ] Scan Tool Testing and Procedures.
5 Sensor Wiring Harness
• With the transmission fluid temperature sensor.
6 Transmission Fluid Temperature Sensor (G93)
• Can be checked using the vehicle diagnostic tester under "Guided Fault Finding". Refer to => [ Vehicle Diagnosis Tester, Connecting and Selecting Functions ] Scan Tool Testing and Procedures.
7 Solenoid Valve Wiring Harness
8 Electronic Ignition Switch (D9)
The following components (depending on the vehicle equipment level) are integrated in the electronic ignition lock:
• Access/start authorization switch (E415)
• Ignition switch key lock solenoid (N376)
9 Ignition Key
10 Transmission Input Speed Sensor (G182)
• Can be checked using the vehicle diagnostic tester under "Guided Fault Finding". Refer to => [ Vehicle Diagnosis Tester, Connecting and Selecting Functions ] Scan Tool Testing and Procedures.
11 Transmission Output Speed Sensor (G195)
• Can be checked using the vehicle diagnostic tester under "Guided Fault Finding". Refer to => [ Vehicle Diagnosis Tester, Connecting and Selecting Functions ] Scan Tool Testing and Procedures.
12 Shift Lock Solenoid (N110)
• Installed location: The shift lock solenoid is located in the selector mechanism.
• Can be checked using the vehicle diagnostic tester under "Guided Fault Finding". Refer to => [ Vehicle Diagnosis Tester, Connecting and Selecting Functions ] Scan Tool Testing and Procedures.
13 Tiptronic Switch (F189)
• Can be checked using the vehicle diagnostic tester under "Guided Fault Finding". Refer to => [ Vehicle Diagnosis Tester, Connecting and Selecting Functions ] Scan Tool Testing and Procedures.
14 Terminal 50 Power Supply Relay (J682)
• Inside the engine compartment E-box.
15 Diagnostic Connection
16 Transmission Range Display (Y6)
• Removing and installing, refer to => Electrical Equipment.
Transmission Control Module
Installed location: The control module - arrow - is located in the left front wheel housing.
- The wheel housing liner must be removed for removal and installation.
Multifunction Transmission Range Switch
Installed location: The multifunction transmission range switch is located on the upper side of the transmission.
Valve Body
Installed location: The valve body is bolted to the underside of the transmission housing and is covered by transmission fluid pan.
The solenoid valve 1 (N88) , solenoid valve 2 (N89) , solenoid valve 3 (N90) , solenoid valve 4 (N91) , solenoid valve 5 (N92) , solenoid valve 6 (N93) , solenoid valve 9 (N282) and solenoid valve 10 (N283) are secured to the valve body.
Sensor Wiring Harness
• Wiring harness for the sensor.
• With the integrated transmission fluid temperature sensor - arrow -
Installed location: The wiring harness is secured to the valve body in the transmission.
Solenoid Valve Wiring Harness
• Wiring harness for the solenoid valves
Installed location: The wiring harness is secured to the valve body in the transmission.
Electronic Ignition Switch
Installed location: The ignition lock - 1 - is installed in the instrument panel, next to the steering column.

Transmission Input Speed Sensor and Transmission Output Speed Sensor
Installed location: Inside the transmission housing above the valve body.

Tiptronic Switch
Installed location: The Tiptronic switch is integrated in the selector mechanism.
If the vehicle has a multifunction steering wheel, check the buttons on the steering wheel and the corresponding wire connections.
Diagnostic Connection
Installed location: The diagnostic connection - arrow - is located under the drivers side storage compartment on the left side.
Transmission Range Display
Installed location: Inside the instrument cluster.
