Brake Pads, C60
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Torque Wrench 5-50 Nm (V.A.G 1331)
• Piston Resetting Tool (T10145)
Removing
• When removing, mark brake pads that will be used again. Install in the same position, otherwise braking effect will be uneven!
- Remove wheels.
- Disconnect the connector - 1 - from the brake pad wear display.
- Counter hold the guide pins and remove both bolts from the brake caliper.
- Remove the brake caliper - 1 - and secure with wire so that the weight of the brake caliper does not stress or damage the brake hose.
- Remove the brake pads - 2 and 3 - from the brake carrier - 4 -.
Cleaning
Do not blow brake system using compressed air, the dust produced is harmful to health!
- Thoroughly clean contact surfaces for brake pads at brake carrier, remove corrosion.
- Clean brake caliper.
• Use only appropriate solvents for cleaning brake caliper.
Installing
• Before pressing the piston into cylinder using piston resetting tool, brake fluid must be extracted from brake fluid reservoir. Otherwise, especially if reservoir has been topped off, fluid will overflow and cause damage.
- Press piston back.
- Place the brake pads - 2 - and the springs - 1 - into the opening in the brake carrier - 3 -.
- Place the brake caliper carefully on the brake carrier.
- Counter hold the guide pins and attach the brake caliper to the brake carrier with new self-locking bolts.
- Connect the connector - 1 - to the brake pad wear display.
- Install wheels.
• After replacing brake pads, depress the brake pedal firmly several times with vehicle stationary so that the brake pads are properly seated in their normal operating position.
• Check brake fluid level after replacing brake pad.
