Front Axle Camber, Adjusting

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Torque Wrench (40-200 Nm) (V.A.G 1332)

Camber correction is required only after repair work on the chassis. Camber is not adjustable but can be readjusted by moving brackets and/or the subframe!

Slide the subframe only toward the left or right, under no circumstances slide it in or against the direction of travel!

- Remove the noise insulation.

- Loosen the bolts - 1 - on both sides.






The possible range of the camber setting in the lower control arm bracket and subframe holes is restricted by tolerances. If the specified value is not reached by sliding the components, these and the body must be checked. Refer to => [ Evaluating Vehicles in a Collision ] Evaluating Vehicles in a Collision.

- Only specified value for camber can be adjusted by moving the subframe in the - direction of arrows 3 -.

- Secure the subframe to the body using new bolts.

After sliding the subframe and steering gear along with it as well, clearance between the universal joint and the cut out in the bulkhead must be checked.

- Remove the retainers - arrows - and remove the trim - 1 -.






There must be at least 5 mm of clearance between the universal joint - 2 - and the cut out in the bulkhead.
