Clutch System Overviews
• Obtain the anti-theft code for the radio before disconnecting the battery.
• Turn off the ignition and disconnect the battery ground cable.
• When connecting the battery, refer to "Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting".
• Lubricate all bearings and contact surfaces with grease. For the correct allocation, refer to the Parts Catalog.

Clutch Pedal
1 Bulkhead
• With a mount for the bracket.
2 Gasket
• Always replace.
• Between the bracket and bulkhead.
• Self-adhesive.
• Attached to the bracket.
3 Bracket
• For the clutch pedal mounting.
• Removing and installing, refer to one of the following:
Passat and CC, refer to => [ Mounting Bracket ] Mounting Bracket.
Eos, refer to => [ Mounting Bracket ] Mounting Bracket.
4 Bolt
5 Over-Center Spring
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Over-Center Spring ] Over-Center Spring.
6 Bushing
7 Pin
8 Clutch Pedal
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Clutch Pedal ] Clutch Pedal.
9 Mount
• To remove and install, disconnect the master cylinder from clutch pedal. Refer to => [ Master Cylinder ] Service and Repair.
10 Gasket
• Always replace.
• Between the master cylinder and the bracket.
11 Master Cylinder
• Remove and install after removing the mounting bracket. Refer to => [ Master Cylinder ] Service and Repair.
12 Clutch Position Sensor (G476)
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Clutch Position Sensor (G476) ] Service and Repair.
• Can be checked in "Guided Fault Finding" using the vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system (VAS 5051).
• The clutch position sensor is called the clutch pedal switch (F36) in "Guided Fault Finding".
13 Clip
• To remove and install the hose/line assembly or line, pull the clip all the way out.
14 Supply Hose
• Made of plastic. Refer to => [ Plastic Supply Hose ].
15 Nut
• 25 Nm.
• Always replace.
• Quantity: 3
• For the bracket to the bulkhead.
16 Nut
• 25 Nm.
• Always replace.
17 Jounce Bumper
• For the clutch pedal.
Hydraulics
1 Brake Fluid Reservoir
2 Spring Clamp
• Not on all vehicles.
3 Supply Hose
• Made of plastic. Refer to => [ Plastic Supply Hose ].
4 Master Cylinder
• Remove and install after removing the mounting bracket. Refer to => [ Master Cylinder ] Service and Repair.
5 Clip
• To remove and install the hose/line assembly or line, pull the clip all the way out.
• The clip is also pulled out on the side in some master cylinders.
6 Seal/O-ring
• Install on the line connection.
• Install using brake fluid.
• Seal/O-ring version, refer to => [ Seal/O-ring for the Hose/Line Assembly or Line ].
7 Mounting
• To remove and install, disconnect the master cylinder from the clutch pedal. Refer to => [ Clutch Pedal ] Clutch Pedal.
8 Clutch Pedal
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Clutch Pedal ] Clutch Pedal.
9 Nut
• See => [ (Item 15) Nut ].
10 Hose/Line Assembly
• To remove, remove the battery and battery tray.
11 Bracket
• Attached to the body.
• Covered by the assembly mounting.
• For the hose/line assembly => [ (Item 10) Hose/Line Assembly ].
• Bracket differentiation, refer to => [ Bracket Differentiation ].
12 Line
• To remove, remove the battery and battery tray.
13 Bracket
• Attached to the body.
• Covered by the assembly mounting.
• For the line => [ (Item 12) Line ].
• Bracket differentiation, refer to => [ Bracket Differentiation ].
14 Seal/O-ring
• Install on the line connection.
• Install using brake fluid.
• Seal/O-ring versions, refer to => [ Seal/O-ring for the Hose/Line Assembly or Line ].
15 Breathe Assembly
16 Clip
• To remove and install the hose/line assembly, line or the breather, pull the clip out to the stop.
17 Valve
• Bleed the clutch system. Refer to => [ Clutch System, Bleeding ] Procedures.
18 Cap
19 Clutch Slave Cylinder
• The gasket can only be replaced when the transmission is removed.
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Slave Cylinder with Release Bearing ] Slave Cylinder with Release Bearing.
20 Transmission
Seal/O-ring for the Hose/Line Assembly or Line
• The seal/O-ring must be installed in the grooves - arrows 1 and 3 -.
Plastic Supply Hose
• The seals - 2 - must be inside the supply hose - 1 -.
