Turbocharger Vacuum Diaphragm, Checking
Turbocharger Vacuum Diaphragm, Checking
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Hand Vacuum Pump (VAS 6213)
Test Conditions:
• The hoses between the exhaust turbocharger, wastegate bypass regulator valve (N75) and vacuum diaphragm must not be kinked.
• The wastegate bypass regulator valve OK
Test Sequence:
- Remove the engine cover. Refer to => [ Engine Cover ] Engine Cover.
- Connect the (VAS 6213) to the vacuum diaphragm - arrow -.
- Set the slide ring - 1 - on the (VAS 6213) to position - B - for "pressure".
The pressure must not exceed 750 mbar. If the pressure is exceeded, the vacuum diaphragm can be damaged.
- Operate the (VAS 6213) several times and observe the rods.
The linkage - A - must move approximately 300 mbar and be at approximately 700 mbar at end position.
Actuator lift is approximately 10 mm.
• If the pressure cannot be raised using the (VAS 6213) or the pressure drops immediately, check the (VAS 6213) and connecting hoses for leaks. If no fault is detected: replace the vacuum diaphragm. Refer to => [ Turbocharger Vacuum Diaphragm ] Turbocharger Vacuum Diaphragm.
