Turbocharger Vacuum Diaphragm, Checking

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Hand Vacuum Pump (VAS 6213)

Test Conditions:

The hoses between the exhaust turbocharger, wastegate bypass regulator valve (N75) and vacuum diaphragm must not be kinked.

The wastegate bypass regulator valve OK

Test Sequence:

- Remove the engine cover. Refer to => [ Engine Cover ] Engine Cover.

- Connect the (VAS 6213) to the vacuum diaphragm - arrow -.





- Set the slide ring - 1 - on the (VAS 6213) to position - B - for "pressure".






The pressure must not exceed 750 mbar. If the pressure is exceeded, the vacuum diaphragm can be damaged.

- Operate the (VAS 6213) several times and observe the rods.

The linkage - A - must move approximately 300 mbar and be at approximately 700 mbar at end position.





Actuator lift is approximately 10 mm.

If the pressure cannot be raised using the (VAS 6213) or the pressure drops immediately, check the (VAS 6213) and connecting hoses for leaks. If no fault is detected: replace the vacuum diaphragm. Refer to => [ Turbocharger Vacuum Diaphragm ] Turbocharger Vacuum Diaphragm.
