Engine and Transmission, Separating and Assembling

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Shackle (10-222 A/12)

Shop Crane-Load Cap = 700-1200 KG (VAS 6100)

Conditions:

The engine/transmission assembly is removed and is mounted on the engine support (T10359).

Separating

- Remove the starter.

Vehicles with a Direct Shift Gearbox (DSG):

- Remove the coolant hoses from the transmission oil cooler and seal off the openings.

Continuation for all Vehicles:

- Disconnect all electrical connections from the transmission to the engine and free them up.

- Install the shackle (10-222 A/12) to the transmission and install the shop crane-load cap = 700-1200 KG (VAS 6100) to the shackle, but do not lift yet.






- Remove the upper engine/transmission bolts.

- Before removing the last bolts, support the transmission with the shop crane.

- Remove the lower engine/transmission bolts.

- Separate the transmission from the engine; when doing this, guide the transmission.

Assembling

Assembly is performed in reverse order of removal; pay attention to the tightening specifications.
