Front Subframe Mount: Service and Repair






Subframe Mount Assembly Overview

CAUTION!
When doing any repair work, especially in the engine compartment, pay attention to the following due to clearance issues:

Route lines of all types (e.g. for fuel, hydraulic, EVAP canister system, coolant and refrigerant, brake fluid, vacuum) and electrical wiring so that the original path is followed.

Ensure sufficient clearance to all moving or hot components.





1 Bolt

For transmission bracket to the transmission

2 Bolts

For pendulum support to the transmission

Replace

50 Nm plus an additional 1/4 turn (90°)

3 Engine Mount

Removing and installing --> [ Engine Bracket ] Service and Repair

4 Bolt

For engine bracket to cylinder block

Replace

40 Nm plus an additional 1/2 turn (180°)

Observe tightening sequence --> [ Engine Bracket to Cylinder Block Tightening Sequence ]

5 Engine Mount

6 Bolt

For engine mount to the body

Replace

40 Nm plus an additional 1/4 turn (90°)

7 Bracket

8 Bolt

For connecting brace to engine mount

Replace

20 Nm plus an additional 1/4 turn (90°)

9 Bolt

For connecting brace to body

Replace

20 Nm plus an additional 1/4 turn (90°)

10 Bolt

For engine mount to body

Replace

40 Nm plus an additional 1/4 turn (90°)

11 Screws

For engine mount to engine bracket

Replace

60 Nm plus an additional 1/4 turn (90°)

12 Pendulum Supports

13 Bolt

For pendulum support to subframe

Replace

100 Nm plus an additional 1/4 turn (90°)

14 Bolt

For transmission mount to transmission bracket

Replace

60 Nm plus an additional 90° (1/4) turn.

15 Bolt

Transmission mount to body

Replace

60 Nm plus an additional 1/4 turn (90°)

16 Transmission Mount

The illustration shows the DSG transmission version

For transmission bracket to transmission

Engine Bracket to Cylinder Block Tightening Sequence





CAUTION!
Always use the correct tightening sequence and specifications for the engine bracket bolts. Otherwise tension could develop in the engine bracket and break it.

- First tighten bolts by hand in sequence - 1 to 3 -.

- Then tighten bolts in that sequence to specification --> [ 4 Bolt ].
