Cylinder Block Assembly Overview





1 Cylinder Block

• Refer to --> [ Sealing Flange and Flywheel Assembly Overview ] Service and Repair.

• Piston and connecting rod, refer to --> [ Pistons and Connecting Rod Assembly Overview ] Service and Repair.

• Crankshaft, refer to --> [ Crankshaft Dimensions ] Specifications.

2 Gasket

• Replace

3 Oil Filter Bracket

• Assembly Overview, refer to --> [ Oil Filter Bracket and Oil Cooler Assembly Overview ] Service and Repair.

4 15 Nm plus an additional 1/4 turn (90°)

• Replace

• First, fasten upper left and lower right bolts, and then tighten all four bolts in a diagonal sequence

5 Bracket

• For wiring harness

6 10 Nm

7 Connecting Piece

• For thermostat

8 15 Nm

9 O-Ring

• Replace

10 Thermostat

• Use correct installation position. Refer to --> [ Coolant Thermostat ] Service and Repair.

• Checking: Heat up thermostat in water

• Opening begins approximately 85 °C

• Ends approximately 105 °C

• Opening lift min. 7 mm

11 20 Nm plus an additional 1/2 turn (180°)

• Replace

• Do not lubricate or grease the threads or collar

• Additional rotation can occur in several stages

12 Bracket

• For assemblies

13 40 Nm plus an additional 1/4 turn (90°)

• Replace

14 Tensioning Element for Ribbed Belt

• To release tension on ribbed belt, pivot using open-end wrench. Refer to --> [ Ribbed Belt ] Ribbed Belt.

15 Oil Pan

• Removing and installing, refer to --> [ Oil Pan ] Service and Repair.

16 15 Nm

• Fasten in diagonal sequence in steps
