HID Headlamps, Retrofitting for Left or Right Hand Drive Traffic

To prevent dazzling by asymmetrical low beams, both headlamps must be converted to the traffic direction in the corresponding country.

Before working on headlamps with gas-discharge bulbs, always switch off the headlamps and remove the ignition key.

Headlamp conversion process is the same on both headlamps and described below for the left headlamp.

- Remove headlamp, Refer to --> [ Headlamps ] Headlamps.

- Rotate cover cap - 1 - in - direction of arrow - and remove it.





CAUTION!
There are pressures from 7 bar (cold) to 100 bar (hot) in the glass portion of the HID bulb. The hot glass of the bulb can reach temperatures of up to 700 degrees Celsius. The reflector is just as hot.

There is a danger of being burned.

Allow headlamps to cool sufficiently.

- Press adjusting lever - 1 - in desired position - A - or - B -.





Adjusting lever - 1 - up = left traffic - A -

Adjusting lever - 1 - down = right traffic - B -

CAUTION!
When installing the cover cap, make sure the cap is properly seated. It is destroyed by ingress of water into headlamp.

- Seal headlamp housing with cover cap and tighten it.

- Install headlamp. Refer to --> [ Headlamps ] Headlamps.

- Check headlamp for function.

- Check and correct headlamp adjustment, if necessary.
