Charge Air Regulation Vacuum Diaphragm, Checking

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Hand vacuum pump (VAS 6213)

Test Conditions

The hose from the turbocharger to wastegate bypass regulator valve must have continuity to vacuum diaphragm.

The wastegate bypass regulator valve is OK.

Test Sequence

- Remove the engine cover. Refer to --> [ Engine Cover ] .

- Connect the (VAS 6213) to the vacuum diaphragm - arrow -.





- Set the slide ring - 1 - on the (VAS 6213) to position - B - for "pressure".





CAUTION!
The pressure must not exceed 750 mbar. If the pressure is exceeded, the vacuum diaphragm can be damaged.

- Operate the (VAS 6213) several times and observe rods:

The linkage - A - must move approximately 300 mbar and be at approximately 700 mbar at the end position.





Actuator lift is approximately 10 mm.

If pressure cannot be built up using the (VAS 6213) or pressure falls again immediately:

- Check the (VAS 6213) and the connecting hoses for leaks.

If no malfunction can be found:

- Replace the vacuum diaphragm. Refer to --> [ Charge Air Regulation Vacuum Diaphragm ] .
